When I was a child one of my favorite games to play was Hide and Seek. It was fun because you could play it with lots of kids or just one on one. The trill was always in the hiding and waiting to see if you were going to get caught. Could you pull it off this time without being found? You knew you had found the best secret hiding place where no one could possibly find you. And then, presto. You were found.
As I grew into adulthood in my later years I recognized the same pattern taking place. It was a game of Hide and Seek. I would rebel and fall into sin. I would not want to get caught, so I would hide my sin from God in the deepest, darkest place of my heart. I was hoping that if I did that I would never have to be exposed in front of Him.
This was a lie that the enemy wanted me to believe. Hide and seek is a healthy physical game we can play, not an emotional one. In the first place God knew it all. He always did. Being exposed before God is healthy because it removes me from the prison I have put myself in and allows freedom in Christ to truly come.
I want to encourage you today to walk in that freedom in Christ. God is waiting for us to seek Him no matter what we have done. His love covers it all.
