Being born and raised in California it’s not a coincidence that I LOVE SUMMER…no, I really do. Everything about it. The beach, water, BBQ’s and even the S’mores. Count me IN on it ALL! But this Summer has been a little different and its been fantastic as God has been stirring up some HOT topics and I wouldn’t change a thing. I have been attending a Women’s Bible Study called GIRL TALK by Margy Hill at Calvary Chapel Oceanside. This Bible Study is all about Biblical Womanhood and how the enemy has come to whisper lies in our ears and we as women have bought into them hook, line and sinker. The great news is we have everything we need in God’s Word. He has spelled it out for us to get back on the path of what we need to be aligned with HIM and leave our flesh of what we think on certain subject matters out.
This week we talked about A HOUSE OR A HOME? It is so imperative that we understand that whether you are single or married God has assigned every single woman the role of HOMEbuilder. The lie the enemy will want the single woman to believe is that homebuilding does not apply to her because she does not have a husband or children presently in her life. That is a lie. I want you to be encouraged today to reach out to your single lady friends and start gathering around your tables at each others homes. Break bread together. Get into Gods Word. Join a mentoring group at your church. Don’t put this off. God wants to use you in a mighty way for His Kingdom. Married Woman, the lie the enemy will want to tell you (and believe me I understand because I have been there and sometimes I still am, but we must push through) is I don’t have time to build my home. Yes, lots going on. Plates are full. We can all feel overwhelmed. But, let me ask you a question….If you and I don’t have time to build our homes, who will? You see the calling that is breathed into us by God it is part of our nurture role. We must not toss it to the side.
Sometimes it comes down to changing the frequency of the station you and I are listening too. Are we tuning in to hear HIS voice…to HEAR what HE has to say or are we STUCK in the lie that the enemy is whispering in our ears?
Proverbs 14:1 says The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish woman pulls it down with her hands.
May we be wise women who hear God’s voice and value it as we gather together in our homes. For something very special happens when we gather together in HIS name!
Amen! I learned early on in my marriage that home building doesn’t just happen. One needs to be actively setting goals to make it happen. commitments we made that contributed to our home were: 1. Nightly Couch time- 15-20 min just my husband and I. The kids knew not to interrupt unless vomit or blood were involved. We would discuss our day or just cuddle. We did this in view of the kids so they would see our commitment and affection for one another. 2. Dinner at the table at least 5 nights a week and definitely Sunday family day. This was a time to get to know our kids and be included in their lives. We didn’t just ask the simple surface questions like how was your day or what did you learn in school. We would ask what did you think about that or how did your friend handle it when. These were two commitments I look back on now that our kids have told us really made an impact on their growing up years. Hope this offers you young wives and mothers some ideas.
Such valuable examples and suggestions Denise. I agree with you that homebuilding does not just happen. It is truly an investment of time and love that as you can see with your own adult kids now will flourish from generation to generation. And that is an investment that has a sweet return!
Lisa, perhaps this is one of your most powerful messages yet. The enemy has been making me believe the lie that since we do not own a home in this season and our aparmtent is falling apart that I don’t have to build my home. Wrong. I have been called to be a Proverbs 31 woman for ALL seasons of life. Thanks for helping to call me to greatness and to speak words of life that build up my husband in our home!
I think he has done that with all of us at one point or another and its time for him to STOP! You are such a “FULL OF LIFE” encourager! I can’t wait to hear about some of those homebuilding deposits that you are going to do in your home.
