When I was sixteen years old, I needed to have knee surgery. I was in Drill Team and tore part of my cartilage while practicing a routine. When I woke up from surgery, and over the next few days I felt really nauseated. I remember my Mom gave me a great piece of advice that I hold onto today. “Take it one minute at a time, get through that minute and then we will go on to the next minute.”
On August 3rd my Mom had total knee replacement surgery. She has done really well and our whole family is rejoicing in all of the progress she is making. God has been answering each prayer. A few days ago my Mom was challenged because her foot would not move when she would try to walk. It was my turn to give her the same advice she gave to me thirty years ago. “Take it one minute at a time, get through that minute and then we will go on to the next minute.”
As I have been pondering on this thought I truly believe that God has that same mindset with us. He doesn’t want us to get stressed out as we are consumed with what is happening in different situations in our life. I truly believe God takes us by the hand and tells us to “take it one minute at a time, get through that minute and then we will go on to the next minute.”
I find great comfort in knowing that God has it all under control. He knows what is best for each and everyone of us. No matter what you are facing today, I pray that you walk with Jesus as you take it “one minute at a time.”
