Have you ever gone to dinner and sat at a wobbly table? If you are like me it can become really distracting and before you know it you are quickly figuring out a way to solve the problem. Lets face it know one wants to eat their meal like they are aboard the raging seas.
Distractions. They are all around us. day in and day out. How we handle them is what matters. As I have been pondering this wonderful Christmas season, I was thinking about Mary and Joseph. Joseph was very concerned. You could say He was distracted. Mary was very close to delivering Jesus and He knew they had to take the trip to Bethlehem. You see in those days they had to be registered in the place where their ancestors lived. So off they went. Can you imagine Mary being on a donkey nine months pregnant? I am sure they had many questions and thoughts that went through their minds, but I also believe they had a peace. The peace the Bible talks about that surpasses all understanding because they were in Gods complete will.
As they arrived in Bethlehem, there were no rooms at the inn. However, the innkeeper said they could use the stable to deliver their baby. The conditions were not the best, but Joseph made Mary as comfortable as He could. He even prepared a manger, with fresh straw for Jesus to lay His new born head on. And Christ was born! The Hope for all eternity!
Corrie Ten Boom sums it up so perfectly “Christmas!, Christmas, Joy! Jesus is Born! That is the Christmas Joy! God so loved the world and sent His Son. Whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. The Christmas Joy is possible for everybody, for Jesus said, “Come to me all.”
Born in a stable, to bring stability to all through Him. That is the true Christmas Story! Jesus is Hope and Life. As you are going about your weeks leading up to CHRISTmas, may you find JOY knowing that Christ came to give you life!
